Reduce Baggage Calories to Succeed in Dieting

We have to watch what we eat and cut back on calorie dense foods if we are serious about permanent weight loss. I was at a family and friends lunch yesterday and Wayne had embarked on a weight loss and exercise program. As we were chatting he was explaining to me his exercise program to lose body fat and weight loss. Yet he was eating as he usually does. He was under the impression that calorie restriction is not necessary with his weight loss program.. We tend to try anything and everything in the way of losing weight before grudgingly admitting that reducing baggage calories is vital to any weight loss program.

Why do we deny ourselves effective weight loss eating programs when all we need to do is find out the foods containing baggage calories, namely fast foods of the oily nature and package snacked that have been deep-fried. I reckon it's because a commitment to cutting back on foods, both in what we eat and our portion sizes is somehow seen as a type of deprivation.

Take a look at our forefathers who were strong and robust. They never had all the fancy named fast foods and advertising to contend with. There was no quick fix for immediate food gratification. Yet they were stronger and healthier than modern day society. Simple go back to basics and cut out snack foods packaged in little plastic bags.

The fact that we have to work hard to maintain a healthy body through nutritious diet and regular exercise goes against our instant gratification mindset. I have come to the conclusion that with such a huge market for weight loss needs has also come the sharks. They capitalize on the instant gratification mentality of the western mind and say you can lose fat fast without calorie restriction, without exercise, without hunger.

These sharks will take your money; send you the weight loss plan that will end in failure. Don't waste your valuable time and hard won cash. You deserve to succeed and you will if you can just learn to live with the fact that you won't have an effective diet without sensible calorie restriction.

It is as simple as 1 plus1 = two.

Whether you want to count calories or points or units or grams, you have to accurately measure your food portions and balance them against your daily energy output. I always said to my clients on weight loss programs at my gym to first change their way of thinking. I would ask if they could see themselves slim. If no then I would say then you wont get slim and would put them on a attitude toward self program to recondition they way they thought. Stay hungry but be healthy was a good thought pattern to develop. This calls you to emphasize on calories that count instead of baggage calories. Supplement your meals with nutritious shakes and vitamins so as to maintain health.

Take away your "desperate to lose weight" scenario and replace it with a "determined to have permanent weight loss" mindset. Inform yourself by finding out as much as you can about correct nutrition and how to balance the essential elements of your diet. Remember that when imagination meets will power, imaginations always wins. If can afford a personal trainer they can plan a exercise routine for your body type and work out what combination of exercises is best for you.

Remember to take it easy on yourself in the mindset planning. Make room for setbacks so you don't get demoralize and go reeling for your emergency ration of cream donuts. When you embark on a weight loss diet you have to see it as a fresh start; it's not a free ride. And it is going to work for. This is where your imagination can make or break your resolve for a more productive lifestyle where sensible eating and exercise can help you a lot.
